Our History
Café Don Ruiz began with Eugenio Ruiz - “Don Ruiz,” who believed in Puerto Rico as one of the world’s best coffee destinations and started cultivating coffee following his grandfather's coffee passion by the end of 1800s in Yauco, which is the most famous coffee region on the island. It's a four generation coffee heritage offering the best coffee to your table. The 100% arabica beans are harvested at over 3000ft.
Today, Don "Eugenio" Ruiz specialty coffee is processed by his sons in both green and roasted beans. The wet and dry beneficiado is using the latest efficient and ecofriendly equipment, recycling water and reducing the CO2 emissions during the drying process. The “guardiolas” are custom made with variable frecuency drives and temperature controls to keep a homogeneous drying process, resulting in high quality and flavorful beans. The beans are stored under temperature and humidity controls rooms also inside ProGrain bags.

- Old San Juan - Norzagaray St. inside Ballaja, which is a building that was built from 1854 to 1864 for the Spanish troops established on the island. Today, the building is used for educational and cultural activities, as music school, museums as Museo de las Americas, which is the most important museum in the caribbean with the history of the humanity from North to South America
